Census

A census is a once-in-a-decade moment that ensures a clear picture of the situation in many areas - numbers of population, age structures, economic and educational achievements, types of employment, and for the first time, in Population and Housing Census 2014 in Moldova, people’s disabilities.

A census is among the most complex and massive peacetime exercises a nation undertakes. UNFPA, along with other development partners, supported the National Bureau of Statistics in the process of preparation and conduction of the Census 2014. With the Census comprehensive data, policy reforms can be implemented effectively and government programmes at all levels can be planned accurately to deliver services to the population, meet the real needs of people and avoiding ineffective budget spending.
