Safe births in modern conditions for every mother and newborn in Moldova – a public exhibition reflecting the modernization of the country’s perinatal centers is hosted by the Ministry of Health until the end of November. The event offers the public an opportunity to explore, through images, the fully equipped 12 perinatal centers, which provide high-quality medical services annually to over 18,000 newborns, including children of Ukrainian refugees.

In the past three years, with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and development partners, the Ministry of Health has fully modernized these perinatal centers. The upgrades include state-of-the-art medical equipment, furniture, and essential supplies, ensuring the complete renovation of delivery rooms, obstetric operating rooms, intensive care units for newborns and mothers, post-operative recovery rooms, and blood transfusion units. Additionally, nine of the centers have been equipped with Type A ambulances. Total investments in these modernizations amount to approximately 4 million dollars.

UNFPA remains committed to supporting the development of the perinatology system in the Republic of Moldova through additional modern equipment, adjustments to the regulatory framework, and continuous training of specialists, thus ensuring optimal conditions for every birth in Moldova.

The exhibition “Safe Births in Modern Conditions for Every Mother and Newborn in Moldova” can be visited until the end of November at the Ministry of Health headquarters.
