The United Nations Population Fund in partnership with the National Social Insurance House of Moldova (NSIH) launches the national information campaign ‘Be an informed parent, know your rights!’. The press conference will take place on Tuesday, 17 January 2023, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the NSIH office (Chișinău, 3 Gheorghe Tudor str.). The campaign is carried out in coordination with the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova.
The launch event was attended by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, Dan Perciun, Member of Parliament, Alexei Buzu, Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Elena Țîbîrnă, Director of the National Social Insurance House, UNFPA representatives.
The national information campaign ‘Be an informed parent, know your rights!’ consists of information sessions with the participation of approximately 17,000 people – mothers and fathers, carers, employees, LPA representatives from all districts, including rural areas of the Republic of Moldova.
The participants will be informed by the territorial house' representatives about the recent changes in the national legislation supporting families with children and encouraging access, including online, to social security benefits for employees with children, as well as about the benefits of these entitlements.
- The 14-day paternity leave that can be requested by fathers during the first year of the child's life, paid from the state social insurance budget;
- The existing and the new options to receive monthly childcare allowance;
- The new possibility for mothers and fathers to share childcare leave up to the age of 3 and take turns staying with the child;
- The possibility to request flexible working hours in coordination with the employer;
Employers from each district – both public and private sector – will also be invited to attend the information sessions. They will be made aware of the benefits to employers and to the company as a whole when employees successfully combine work and personal life and are happy at work and at home.

The information sessions will be held from 17 January to 28 February 2023 at the offices of local public authorities, territorial social security houses, etc. of each district of the Republic of Moldova.
