UNFPA representative Nigina Abaszada and Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research discussed the priorities of the education system and UNFPA assistance in the context of the Country Program 2023-2027.

The UNFPA Resident Representative to the Republic of Moldova, Nigina Abaszada, discussed with the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, the priorities of the education system, and UNFPA's assistance in the context of the Country Program 2023-2027.

During the meeting, Nigina Abaszada reiterated UNFPA's support for the continuation of the systemic interventions to empower adolescents and young people in the Republic of Moldova through formal education and out-of-school activities. 

In particular, UNFPA will continue to provide support in the field of health education and life skills development in general and vocational technical education. As part of our efforts are the revision and modernization of the curriculum, training of teachers, equipping schools with innovative teaching materials.

A priority for the year 2023 is to ensure access to menstrual hygiene information and services in schools, with several institutions to be equipped with devices providing free access to menstrual pads.

UNFPA is committed to further supporting the empowerment of young people through participation and civic engagement and mobilization programs. To achieve this, we collaborate with the National Youth Agency for the development of the Network of Youth Centers in Moldova, their accessibility and the support of the civic initiatives of young people.

Minister Dan Perciun thanked UNFPA for the continuous support, further reiterating the openness to continue the initiatives, which help the young girls and boys of the Republic of Moldova to realize their potential.
