The eighth edition of the national #SuperCoders project is organized under the aegis of the Orange Moldova Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), as part of the #bodyright movement launched in 2023 by UNFPA in partnership with Orange and other organizations. Its goal is to raise awareness among young people and parents about digital violence and internet safety measures.

Who is the #SuperCoders project for

In the 2024 edition of #SuperCoders, around 1,400 students aged 12-14, along with their parents, are expected to participate. They will explore what generative artificial intelligence (AI) is, how it works, and how they can create texts and images using it. Experimenting with generative AI tools fosters creativity and problem-solving skills, preparing young people for the opportunities of a tech-driven future.

Additionally, #SuperCoders 2024 will offer, for the first time, informational sessions for parents on online safety. Over a 3-hour session, the parents of participating students will learn about the risks children and teenagers face on the internet, how to prevent them, warning signs that indicate a child or teenager is a victim of cyberbullying, and the necessary steps to take in such situations.

How to participate in #SuperCoders

To enroll their school in the project, the IT teacher will need to fill out the participation form by September 27. Each school will delegate two teachers who will receive specialized training to facilitate the workshops at their institutions. The first 70 eligible schools to apply will be selected to participate. The list of participating schools will be published on October 7.

On October 12, 140 teachers from the 70 selected institutions will attend dedicated training sessions in Chișinău, at the Orange Digital Center and Clasa Viitorului, delivered by experts in the two fields – Generative Artificial Intelligence and Online Safety.

Finally, on October 26, digital workshops will be held in each of the 70 schools: one workshop on artificial intelligence for 20 teenage students and another on online safety and monitoring internet risks for their parents.

About #SuperCoders:

#SuperCoders is an international project created and developed by the Orange Group, starting in 2014. The event is organized as part of the European Coding Week, which this year will take place from October 14-27. In Moldova, #SuperCoders was launched in 2016, aiming to bring digital education closer to children and young people. In previous editions, over 7,000 participants from across the country learned basic programming skills and discovered a passion for technology through #SuperCoders.

The 2024 edition of #SuperCoders expands its focus to digital safety and is organized in partnership with UNFPA and implemented by TEKEDU.
