Campala, Uganda - Moldova’s representatives, Natalia Cojohari, UNFPA Moldova Acting Deputy Representative, and Alexandru Lebedev, Diez.md, are part of the team which has won the „Hack for Youth” hackathon, organized on 21-23 July in Kampala, Uganda.
The team comprised of the representatives of Moldova, Uganda, Palestine, Turkey, South Korea, Canada and Macedonia has won in two categories: „People’s choice”, having received the biggest number of on-line votes, and in the “The most innovative team” category.
The team’s winning idea was to create a mobile app which would refute sex myths and would inform the young people about the reproductive health. The persons answering correctly the app multiple quiz questions would receive instantly Internet traffic and additional credit on their mobile phones.
The UNFPA Innovation Fund will offer a 100.000 USD budget for those teams who continue to develop the mobile apps proposed during the Uganda hackathon.
More than 80 people from all continents have participated at the hackathon aiming the creation of the mobile apps which would be used for the sexual education of young people in the situation when there are more than ever in human history young people on the planet – 1.8 billion.
