The partnership between the Ministry of Health and UNFPA Moldova contributes to the improvement of the medical education process and increases the quality of medical services in the field of sexual and reproductive health in the Republic of Moldova.
Today, on September 27, an important event took place during which modern teaching equipment, consisting of medical mannequins, was transfered to medical education institutions throughout the country.
The donation ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, representatives of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Moldova, representatives of the beneficiary institutions and teaching staff.
"UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, welcomes the continuous modernization of the health system in the Republic of Moldova. The equipment offered today will improve the quality of medical studies and complement the efforts of the Ministry of Health in strengthening the quality of sexual and reproductive health services and, most importantly, in saving the lives of women throughout the country" said Nigina Abaszada, the Resident Representative of UNFPA Moldova.
Following this technical equipping activity, students, resident doctors, medical practitioners and post-graduate medical staff will benefit from extended opportunities for developing and testing practical skills in medical education institutions. These skills include medical assistance in gynecological and obstetric emergencies, gynecological examination in clinical management of sexual assault cases, provision of family planning services and cervical screening.
The equipment will be used for the training of students, resident doctors and practitioners, as well as for the continuing development of post-graduate medical staff in the field of sexual and reproductive health. This will be achieved by applying contemporary methodologies of training and testing of practical skills, integrated in pre-university, university, postgraduate and continuing medical education programs.
The value of donated equipment is estimated at over 440 thousand lei, and these were sent to the following institutions: State University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Nicolae Testemițanu” (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Family Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine), the Center of Excellence in Medicine and Pharmacy „Raisa Pacalo”, the Medical Colleges of Bălți, Ungheni, Orhei and Cahul, the Training Center in the Simulation Base of the Mother and Child Institute.
