Chisinau - The Commission took the decision to conduct, in collaboration with UNFPA, the evaluation of the population dynamics in terms of economic perspectives during the period of 2015-2017, with the aim of elaborating of the new Action Plan on the Demographic Security.
UNFPA Representative in Moldova Ian McFarlane said that this process would include an analysis of the population dynamics given the economic and social realities of the country and would lead to developing a set of recommendations that would help improve state policies and national plans.
Other issues discussed during the meeting include the implementation of the program of social aid, the validation of the methodology for mainstreaming aging into sectoral policies and the e-certificate for birth registration.
The Commission appreciated the innovative work by the National Youth Council of Moldova and the Ministry of Youth on the Youth Index, supported by the UNFPA, which should improve the public policies and make them more responsive to the needs of young people.
The National Commission for Population and Development was established in February 2007 by the Government of Moldova as an interinstitutional body for analysis, synthesis and coordination of sectoral policies impacting the population.
