The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, has donated a batch of printers to specialists in domestic violence prevention and victim rehabilitation from six Territorial Social Assistance Agencies (ATAS) and twelve Territorial Social Assistance Structures (STAS) in the Republic of Moldova.
The 20 printers were procured and donated by UNFPA with financial support from the United Kingdom, amounting to over 1.3 million MDL. Through this donation, UNFPA reaffirms its commitment to supporting the modernization and efficiency of social services, particularly in the context of the RESTART social assistance system reform.
Vasile Cușca, State Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection: "Equipping social assistance institutions with modern technology is a crucial step in improving social services. These tools will enable specialists in the field to carry out their work more efficiently and swiftly, with access to the necessary technology for proper and prompt case management. Additionally, by distributing these modern instruments, we ensure that they have the resources needed to provide a more adequate and rapid response to beneficiaries' needs."
Natalia Plugaru, Deputy Representative of UNFPA Moldova: "This donation is about supporting the frontline professionals who intervene daily in cases of domestic violence and in the rehabilitation process of violence survivors. By equipping 18 entities with 20 high-performance printers, we ensure that social services become more accessible and better aligned with the real needs of violence survivors. UNFPA remains a trusted partner in modernizing and strengthening the social sector, contributing to building a stronger and more equitable system for all."
Additionally, in the past two years, UNFPA has transferred 12 vehicles to the Territorial Social Assistance Agencies (ATAS) under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, supported a series of training sessions for 1,600 social assistance specialists across the country to provide a more effective response to gender-based violence cases, supported the activity of shelters for violence survivors, including refugees from Ukraine, and continues to enhance the visibility of community social workers and specialists in the fields of domestic violence and victim rehabilitation in the social sector.
The technical equipping of social specialists with high-performance printers is not only an investment in technology but also a way to enhance their productivity and ability to provide faster and more accessible services to those in need.
Victoria Gandrabur, Director of ATAS South-East: "These printers are an essential support for our specialists who deal daily with complex cases of violence and social vulnerability. With access to modern equipment, we can improve case documentation, interventions, and collaboration with other institutions, contributing to a more effective social protection system."
UNFPA remains a trusted partner in efforts to strengthen social services and support the most vulnerable population groups.
UNFPA expresses its gratitude to its strategic partner – the United Kingdom, which financially supported the purchase of the equipment, contributing to the modernization of social services in the Republic of Moldova.
