The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC) in the Republic of Moldova are launching the results of "The knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) Study on cervical cancer prevention in the Republic of Moldova". The event will take place on November 28, 10:00, at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection (Vasile Alecsandri, 2 street).
The study is an important achievement for the project "Prevention of cervical cancer in the Republic of Moldova", jointly organized by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, UNFPA and SDC, in collaboration with the International Association for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer as well as other partners.
The study aims to understand women’s barriers to access to cervical screening services in the Republic of Moldova as well as the social norms that influence their behavior, and the aspects that can be improved at the system level.
The study involved a quantitative research with a sample of 1226 women between the age of 25 and 61 across the country, as well as a qualitative component in the form of focus groups and in-depth interviews with 51 women, 40 doctors and 15 experts in public health.
The research and analysis of data were conducted this autumn by Magenta Consulting company, in collaboration with national and international experts.
The results of the Study will be used to develop a communication strategy for changing the behavior of women in the target group and for making informed and evidence-based decisions for the prevention of cervical cancer in the Republic of Moldova.
