The Resident representative of UNFPA in Moldova, Nigina Abaszada, has concluded her four-years mandate in Chișinău. Over the course of last years, alongside the UNFPA team, Nigina Abaszada has made tremendous efforts to support the Republic of Moldova in overcoming humanitarian crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects of the war in Ukraine.

During her mandate, UNFPA has strongly supported the modernization of hospitals and maternity units in Moldova to ensure safe pregnancies and births for all women.

At the same time, intergenerational dialogue was strengthened, and partnerships with the private sector for the digitalization of older people were established, contributing to the demographic resilience of the country.

Nigina Abaszada consistently advocated for the empowerment of young people, and the fight against gender-based violence, engaging boys and men in the transformation of social norms.

"Moldova will always remain in my heart, and I will continue to admire the courage, kindness, and resilience of Moldovan people. I am confident that the diligent efforts we have made together with our partners in recent years will have a lasting impact and bring positive changes to the lives of the people of Moldova for many years ahead", she said.

We thank Nigina Abaszada for her unique dedication and commitment and wish her success in her new mission!
