At the initiative of the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, a trolleybus from the capital city was painted with graphic elements of the Youth Centers promotional campaign. This is one of the 22 Youth Centers supported by the joint Fund for Developing Youth Centers and Strengthened Participation and Civic Engagement of Young People in the Republic of Moldova, set up by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the United Nations Population Fund.

The ‘youth trolleybus’ runs on 4 and 8 routes, and the youth periodically organise activities involving volunteers, as well as various social partners and public authorities in order to attract the attention on the rights and needs of youth. At the same time, the activities aim to promote the services of the Youth Centers among young people and to motivate them to be more socially active.

We have many services that involve the young people in non-formal education activities, volunteer activities and career guidance. These activities highlight the skills and abilities of young people to develop and to become active and responsible citizens. We are thankful to the Director of Electric Transport Network for partnership and support under this initiative, which allows us once again to promote youth services in Chisinau’, said Petru Grecu, director of the Municipal Youth Center.

The trolleybus can be seen on the roads of the city for several months already, and the first activities took place in November, declared the Youth Month in Moldova. Dozens of young people experienced an unusual trip. The trolleybus became a friendly space for the youth ready to have fun and learn at the same time.

They participated in a workshop on ecology, met the local authorities and discussed about the difficulties and opportunities of young people of the capital city.  During the break, the young people learned how to provide first aid in case of burns and bleeding in ‘La Izvor’ park.

For the year 2020, 200,000 MDL were foreseen in the municipal budget for the Grant Program for NGOs and groups of youth initiatives, the beneficiaries of which are people aged 14-35 years.
