Chisinau – On 07–11 September 2015, the Regional Training Course on Development and of Clinical Guidelines in Sexual and Reproductive Health takes place in Chisinau. 

The course is organised by the Reproductive Health Training Centre of Moldova (CIDSR) with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, Regional Office Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The representatives of the Ministries of Health and experts from 7 countries such as Belorussia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and the Republic of Moldova, participate at the training, along with representatives of the UNFPA Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia- Tamar Khomasuridze and Teymur Seydov, and Mihai Horga, the Program Coordinator of the East European Institute for Reproductive Health from Romania.

The course is taught by the experts from the Republic of Moldova who were trained by the British Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in the area of development and implementation of clinical guidelines in sexual and reproductive health for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region.

Rodica Comendant, the Director of the Reproductive Health Training Centre of Moldova and organiser of the training course, declared that the main goal is to ensure that all the decisions in the area of the public health policies and at in the area of the medical practices are taken based on scientific evidence. “Moldova was selected by the UNFPA as a host country for this course and the Moldovan experts were appointed as trainers for their colleagues from Eastern Europe and Central Asia as a result of the experience they had acquired and training they had received in the framework of the study courses organised by the UNFPA within the British Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. It is a big honour, but also a tremendous responsibility for our country”, she underlined.

Ian McFarlane, UNFPA Representative in Moldova, stated: “Our countries have to combine their efforts in order to ensure the improvement of the quality of people’s lives. UNFPA will ensure the support for these initiatives”.

The course is useful for decision makers, program managers and healthcare professionals who are interested in developing and implementing clinical guidelines and protocols in order to ensure evidence based medical practices and public policies, but also the improvement of the reproductive healthcare services according to the international standards.  

The regional Training Course is organised in the framework of the UNFPA Regional Initiative on Clinical Guidelines on Reproductive Health in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and of the East European Institute for Reproductive Health from Romania. 

Since 2015 the Reproductive Health Training Centre of Moldova (CIDSR) is the coordinator of the Regional Training Centre for Development and Implementation of the Reproductive Health Clinical Protocols (http://www.sanatateafemeii.md/proiecte). 

The Regional Training Course is an unique opportunity to get knowledge about the methodology for the development of the clinical guidelines in the area of sexual and reproductive health which was elaborated by the British Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and East European Institute for Reproductive Health.
